Rocking R

I realized I didn't talk about my amazing day on Saturday! shame on me, I should be spanked ;)

Saturday I made plans to head for the Rockin' R Ranch, it's a little campgrounds of sorts about 30 minutes south of me that is for horsey people to visit, camp out and most importantly trail ride! there are cabins and corals that are free to use, first come first serve, just leave a donation in the box(I love it)I brought my slave along, to help me out and to ride with me. The taboo on visitors at the barn is still in effect but I knew nobody would catch us, and I didn't have Jess touch the horses while we were here just in case. Anyhoo Jess loaded the truck and trailer with all the crap while I got the kiddos, then she handed me wraps and such while I..well.. wrapped legs. My kids load like angels so we got under way about 11:00. We arrived at the "R" at 11:30, unloaded, got em unwrapped and settled, set up our day stuff(chairs and cooler) then waited for Kris and Hannah to show up, they were late so we walked Nysa and Risque' down to the ford, we saw a river otter on the way back up! yep in order to head out on the trails you have to for a small creek.
Kris and Hanna arrived in time so we ate our picnic lunch together then Hannah and I saddled up and headed for the trails. Hannah did wonderfully, she had never been there before and Nysa hadn't been there in two years but they had no problems, we spent about an hour wandering the trails, up hill and down, I think I made Hannah's eyes pop with the one hill I took her down, it's all good Horses are smart, they just sit on their butts and slide(man from snowy river!) When we got back to the trail head I suggested to Kris that she follow us to the ford and take some pictures of us fording, she thought that sounded great.
We gave the ponies a break and sat about talking for a while, Hannah and I going over all the things we saw(deer, flowers, a doggy grave) discussing plans for next weekends show, then Kris and Hannah headed off and it was Jess and I's turn.
Jess is more confident than Hannah but she hasn't ridden as much in recent time but still Pony was great..actually Nysa Pony was better behaved than Risque' you'd have thought the old man was a dorky youngster on his first trail rather than the seasoned veteran he is, horses *rolls eyes* we hit some different trails then I had earlier with Hannah, and I even snuck a canter in for Jess without her knowing it was coming, she did well and said now that she knows what it's like she'll try some again next time we go there :) Jess and I saw a Kingfisher and a Scarlet Tanager.
I wish I had pics to show you all but my camera never left my purse for some reason, however Kris and Jess took plenty of pics, so once I get my mitts on some of those I'll be posting them, they are all of the campsite itself and the ford, trail pics will have to wait for next time.

yes pd, we will be going there together someday :D
